Wood processing technology

Wood processing technology includes basic processing techniques such as wood cutting, wood drying, wood bonding, wood surface decoration, as well as functional treatment techniques such as wood protection and wood modification. Cutting methods include sawing, planing, milling, drilling, sanding, etc. Due to the influence of wood tissue, texture, etc., the cutting method is different from other materials. The moisture content of wood also has an impact on cutting processing, such as wet cutting required for veneer production and wood chip production, and dry cutting required for most processed parts. Drying usually refers specifically to the drying of finished wood. The drying of other wooden materials such as veneer, shavings, and wood fibers is a component of the manufacturing process for plywood, particleboard, and fiberboard, respectively. The emergence and development of wood adhesives and bonding technology are not only the main factors for improving the level of wood processing technology, but also the prerequisite for the production of various layered building blocks, glued laminated wood and other products, such as reconstituted wood and improved wood. The initial purpose of wood surface coating was to protect the wood, such as traditional tung oil and lacquer painting; Later on, it gradually evolved to be mainly decorative, and in fact, any surface decoration also has a protective effect. The surface decoration of artificial boards can be carried out simultaneously during the slab manufacturing process. Wood protection includes wood preservation, moth prevention, and wood flame retardancy. It involves the use of corresponding chemicals through methods such as painting, spraying, and immersion to prevent fungi, insects, marine drilling animals, and other organisms from damaging wood; Or block the damage caused by the fire. Wood modification is a technical treatment carried out to improve or enhance certain physical, mechanical, or chemical properties of wood. When using the various processing techniques mentioned above, the reactions produced by different tree species can exhibit different traits, which are called the processing properties or processing characteristics of wood.
